The Rite Times 12/23/16

A Message from the Secretary

Well, here we are in December and as 2016 is ending, I can’t help but think about how quickly this year has passed. I remember seeing the movie “2001 A Space Odyssey” in 1968, never thinking at that time about a year so far down the road of life.  Now, I’m well beyond 2001… 2017 is upon us!  I would like to think this past year was a good year, but for some it has been difficult.  The loss of a loved one, failing health or some other setback has occurred.

Happy Hannukah!

The Festival of Lights will begin tomorrow night (December 24) as families all across our world light the first candle on their menorah, celebrating the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem. For the next eight nights, a new candle will be lit to warm hearts and homes in celebration and prayer.

Masonry and Scottish Rite has deep roots in charity and in displays of brotherly love. Our ritual teaches that all service is honorable, and this time of year is the perfect opportunity to go the extra mile with that service.
