Consistory Opportunities

If you are a member of Massachusetts Consistory, then you have the opportunity to be a part of the Knights of St. Andrew, Consistory Guard, and Choir.

The Consistory Choir has the distinct honor to perform under the direction of Brother and Maestro Patrick Botti, conductor of the Waltham Symphony Orchestra. The Consistory Choir invites those who have interest in singing at our degrees a few times a year to join us. Rehearsals usually follow an enjoyable dinner and a period of good fellowship. There are no great demands on time or energy. We have everything in place to make of our choir one of the finest in the jurisdiction. All we need is you! For information concerning rehearsal dates, times and venue, please contact Brother Evangelos Liapis, Choir Manager.

Just as each Scottish Rite degree needs a choir, it also needs a number of men to escort officers and dignitaries. These men are the Massachusetts Consistory Guard. This group in Scottish Rite is a fellowship for service. If you have experience marching as a DeMolay, in a branch of the military, or in a marching band, serving in this group may be ideal for you. To be part of this distinguished group of men, there are yearly dues of $25.

Before inquiring there are certain requirements you must meet. You must be a 32o Mason, able to stand all day from approximately 6 AM to 6 PM, hold a sword upright for 5 minutes at a time, have the ability to move around a building, be willing to be part of a team, and to perform any tasks which may be assigned to you by the Captain of the Guard. If you’re interested in learning more or in volunteering, please contact the Captain of the Guard, William Currier, for more information.

In addition to the Consistory Choir and Guard, there is another organization of Massachusetts Consistory that a member can join. This social club is the Massachusetts Chapter, Knights of St. Andrew. They bring 32º Scottish Rite Masons together for fun, fellowship and service to the Valley.

Membership is for 32º Masons only, but all of their social events are open to Masons, friends, family and significant others. Nearly every month, the members gather for Knights’ Nite Out, which are casual social events that range from restaurants to the symphony. Annually, there are two major events: The Banquet of Bannockburn, on or near June 23rd; and the Feast of St. Andrew on November 30th. Stay tuned to their website and calendar for updates regarding social nights. If you are interested in joining, or simply need some more information, please contact us at: vm@massksa.org.
